Here is the list of the best Fellowships in India for doctoral Research.
1. Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowships
The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) provides this fellowship for Indian citizens. This is a full paid fellowship that will cover all the expenses.
Allowances: The fellowship provides round-trip economy class air travel between India and the U.S, a monthly stipend, accident and sickness benefit, settling-in allowance, and a professional allowance.
Eligibility: Indian scholars who are registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution
Duration: Six to nine months

2. The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships
The important point to apply for this is that one of the referees in which you have to put in the online application form must be your Ph.D. supervisor by providing details of the usefulness of PhD, the Ph.D. registration date and topic. Second point to note that the Ph.D. thesis submission date should not be earlier than three months after your Fulbright-Nehru grant end date. Applicants with Ph.D. degrees or those at the final stage of Ph.D. thesis submission will not be considered for this fellowship.
Allowances: Monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness allowance, round-trip economy class air travel, and modest affiliation fees.
Eligibility: Registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution, Employer’s Endorsement Form if employed
Duration: Six to nine months

3. The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships
The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships is provided by Australian Government for International students.

4. Commonwealth Scholarships
The best thing about commonwealth scholarships is that it provides up to 36 months’ support towards completion of a three-year full-time doctoral postgraduate qualification at an eligible UK university.

b. IELTS overall score of 6.5, with no less than 5.5 in each band

5. World Bank Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program
Allowance: Up to $25,000 (U.S.)
A round-trip economy class, Actual tuition fees, A stipend to cover living expenses, Basic medical and/or accident insurance.
Duration: 6 to 10 month
Eligibility: a. Currently enrolled in a PhD program
b. Citizen of a World Bank member country

6. Maulana Azad National Fellowship For Minority Students
Maulana Azad National Fellowship For Minority Students is offered by UGC for Indian students.
Eligibility: a. Belong to one of the minority communities such as Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Jains.
b. Registered for regular and full time M.Phil/Ph.D courses in a university as per UGC advertisement.
